The U.S. Department of Labor has launched a new online portal to help workers and employers develop artificial intelligence skills and expand apprenticeship programmes.

The AI in Registered Apprenticeship Innovation Portal provides training resources, AI literacy tools and guidance for building or updating apprenticeship programmes across sectors including finance, healthcare and manufacturing.

“The department is committed to ensuring that every American has the opportunity to thrive in our nation's workforce, especially in a world that is rapidly being reshaped by artificial intelligence,”

Said Acting Labor Secretary, Keith Sonderling.

The initiative builds on the department’s earlier AI Literacy Framework and is designed to support workforce adaptation as AI adoption accelerates across industries.

Officials said employers can use the platform to create new AI-focused roles or integrate AI training into existing apprenticeship programmes, expanding pathways into emerging jobs.

The launch comes amid concerns that AI could disrupt employment, increasing pressure on governments to provide reskilling and training opportunities.

The move aligns with broader policy efforts by the White House to establish a national AI strategy focused on workforce development, infrastructure and economic competitiveness.
