Ownership & Funding

You should be able to see who is behind what you read and how they are paid for it. This page sets out both.
Who publishes Grafa
Grafa is published by Grafa Pty Ltd (ACN 630 729 145), a privately held Australian proprietary company. It was founded in 2018 by Heidi Cuthbert and Jon Cuthbert, who lead the business today.
Grafa is not owned or controlled by a political party, a government, or a broker, exchange or other market participant we cover.
Our leadership team and advisors are listed on our About page.
How Grafa makes money
Grafa has four revenue sources. All of them are disclosed here because each one is a relationship a reader could reasonably want to know about.
- Subscriptions
- Grafa Core is free. Grafa Edge is a paid subscription that unlocks signals, screeners and alerts. Subscription revenue is the business we are building.
- Advertising and sponsored placements
- Paid placements on Grafa are labelled. They are supplied or paid for by the advertiser and are not produced by the newsroom.
- Referral arrangements with brokers and exchanges
- Some links to brokers and crypto exchanges on Grafa are affiliate links: if you open an account through one, Grafa may receive a fee. That fee does not change what you pay, it does not determine which assets or companies we cover, and it does not affect how a broker is described.
- Partnerships and licensing
- We license news content from partner publishers and work with data and distribution partners. Licensed content is published under the partner's name.
Grafa does not charge for coverage, and no amount of money buys a story, a rating or a position in our signals.
What that means for our coverage
Editorial and commercial are separate functions. Advertisers, broker partners and data providers have no input into editorial decisions and no pre-publication access to editorial content. Commercial enquiries come through our advertising & partnerships form; they are not routed to the newsroom as coverage requests.
Where a commercial relationship is relevant to something we publish, we disclose it in the article. Our full editorial rules are in our Publishing Principles & Editorial Standards.
Third-party content and data
Market data is sourced from licensed third-party providers and is delayed unless a page states otherwise. News licensed from partner publishers is attributed to that publisher, published under their channel, and excluded from Grafa's own author pages — we do not present licensed content as Grafa reporting.
