Trump pardon speculation grows around crypto figures
Donald Trump is reportedly considering a large package of roughly 250 presidential pardons tied to America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations, according to reporting from the Wall Street Journal.
The potential clemency wave has intensified speculation around several high-profile crypto industry figures seeking relief from criminal convictions or ongoing legal cases.
Among the most closely watched names are former FTX chief executive Sam Bankman-Fried, early Bitcoin advocate Roger Ver and crypto miner Joby Weeks.
The report follows a series of crypto-related pardons already issued during Trump’s second term, including clemency for Changpeng Zhao, several BitMEX co-founders and Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht.
Supporters of some defendants have intensified lobbying efforts, with Roger Ver reportedly hiring political strategist Roger Stone while crypto industry figures including Vitalik Buterin have publicly commented on his case.
Trump also recently indicated he would “look at” the case involving Keonne Rodriguez, further fuelling expectations that additional crypto-related clemency cases could emerge.
Prediction platform Polymarket has already listed markets speculating on possible future pardons involving figures such as former FTX executive Ryan Salame and Do Kwon, reflecting growing interest across crypto markets and political circles.
