Crypto has become the most-muted topic on X following the launch of its snooze feature, signalling a sharp drop in user engagement with digital asset content.

The shift reflects growing frustration with low-quality posts, including AI-generated spam and incentivised “InfoFi” content flooding crypto feeds.

X head of product Nikita Bier said crypto now ranks above politics and finance as the most-muted topic, marking a notable reversal for a platform once dominated by Crypto Twitter.

“It is absurd that X would rather ban crypto than improve its bot detection,”

The platform introduced its snooze feature on April 22, allowing users to hide topics for 24 hours, alongside earlier API changes aimed at limiting spam from apps that paid users to post.
