Pursuit Minerals (ASX:PUR) has commenced diamond drilling at its Demasía tenement in Salta Province, Argentina, targeting resource expansion at its Rio Grande Sur Lithium Project.

The new DDH-4 drill hole follows the completion of DDH-3 at Mito, which reached a depth of 560 metres and generated over 20 packer test samples.

The fine print reveals that DDH-4 is planned to reach a depth of 500m to evaluate potential extensions of the company's current resource of 1.264 million tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent.

Pursuit Minerals stated that data from both holes will be incorporated into its geological models to help define the broader salar system scale.

Following the announcement, the Pursuit Minerals share price was down at $0.080.

The company recently acquired the Demasía tenement to expand its exploration footprint across the Rio Grande Sur basin.

The Rio Grande Sur project currently holds an indicated resource of 705,000 tonnes at 443 mg/L lithium alongside an inferred resource of 559,000 tonnes at 405 mg/L lithium.
