AMD briefly crosses $1 trillion market valuation as AI demand drives rally

Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) briefly surpassed a $1 trillion market capitalization on Monday as investors continued to bet on the company’s expanding role in artificial intelligence infrastructure.

AMD shares climbed 9% to $610 after reaching an all-time high of $613.92, briefly pushing the company’s valuation above the $1 trillion threshold.

The milestone places AMD among a small group of semiconductor companies to achieve a trillion-dollar market value, joining companies including NVIDIA, Broadcom and Micron Technology.

The rally highlights growing investor confidence in AMD’s position within the artificial intelligence hardware market.

The company has increasingly expanded beyond individual processors by offering complete AI computing systems that combine chips, networking components and related hardware.

AMD has also benefited from demand for central processing units used alongside graphics processors in AI servers, helping the company gain market share in certain data center segments.

The company is widely viewed as Nvidia’s closest competitor in AI graphics processing units, although Nvidia remains the dominant supplier of AI accelerators.

AMD shares have risen sharply after recovering from an earlier decline following its latest quarterly forecast, when investors reacted negatively to expectations that did not match elevated market expectations.

Since that report, AMD shares have gained more than 26%.

Other semiconductor stocks also advanced on Monday, with Intel shares rising about 11%, Qualcomm gaining 4.1%, and the broader semiconductor index reaching a one-month high.
