US Senator Thom Tillis has proposed combining stablecoin legislation with the CLARITY Act as Congress considers new crypto regulations.
Tillis said advancing both bills together could provide a more complete legal framework for digital assets.
"We need a comprehensive approach to digital asset regulation," Tillis said.
The CLARITY Act would define how digital assets are regulated, while the stablecoin bill focuses on rules for dollar-backed digital tokens.
Supporters said combining the bills could speed up regulatory certainty for the crypto industry.
Some lawmakers have argued the legislation should move separately to allow more detailed debate on each proposal.
The proposals remain under consideration, and Congress has not announced a final timeline for any vote.
