
Tether posts $1B profit with record reserves
Tether reported net profit of more than $1.04 billion in its Q1 2026 attestation, highlighting continued growth despite volatile market conditions.
The company said its excess reserve buffer reached a record $8.23 billion, with assets primarily held in short-duration, high-quality liquid instruments.

Said Paolo Ardoino, emphasising a focus on liquidity and resilience across market conditions.
Tether disclosed $141 billion in exposure to U.S. Treasury bills, making it one of the largest global holders, alongside reserves including $20 billion in gold and $7 billion in bitcoin.
Total assets stood at $191.7 billion against $183.5 billion in liabilities, leaving more than $8.2 billion in surplus capital.
The firm also noted that proprietary investments are separate from USDT reserves and funded through profits, maintaining reserve quality and transparency.
USDT supply grew by $5 billion during the quarter, pushing its market capitalisation above $189 billion as stablecoins continue expanding as global dollar infrastructure.
