Five crypto networks linked to AI compute demand
Key points
- Injective has launched an onchain index tracking rental prices for five Nvidia GPUs, with perpetual trading available at up to 10x leverage.
- Decentralised compute networks including Render, Akash and Aethir compete to supply computing power, while Bittensor coordinates AI-focused services through specialised subnets.
- The key test is whether measurable demand for computing power translates into sustained network revenue, token utility and trading liquidity.
Crypto networks are rapidly shifting onchain to capture skyrocketing AI compute demand through decentralized marketplaces and innovative trading indexes.
As projects like Injective, Render, and Akash compete for market share, the industry's ultimate test lies in converting this processing power into long-term network revenue and token utility.
Injective (CRYPTO:INJ) - Trading the cost of AI computing
Injective launched the Super Intelligence Compute Index (SICI), tracking rental prices across five Nvidia GPUs.
The index weights the H100 at 40%, B200 at 25%, H200 at 15%, A100 at 10% and RTX 4090 at 10%. Its perpetual market offers up to 10x leverage, using USDC as margin. Injective says the index updates hourly using a seven-day trailing average.
Render Network (CRYPTO:RENDER) - A marketplace for GPU workloads
Render connects GPU providers with customers needing graphics rendering and other compute workloads. Its foundation dashboard records approximately 82.56 million frames rendered and 5,600 nodes since inception.
Its burn-and-mint system uses RENDER for work credits, with token issuance or reserves supporting node-operator rewards. Unlike Injective’s price-tracking product, Render focuses on delivering computing work.
Akash Network (CRYPTO:AKT) - Decentralised cloud computing
Akash provides a marketplace where customers can rent computing resources from independent providers.
Its Q1 2026 report recorded more than US$5 million in cumulative compute spending, while AkashML reached a reported 1.7 billion tokens processed daily through OpenRouter.
On 26 October, the core team proposed moving Akash from its own Cosmos chain to Solana, subject to governance approval and migration checks.
Aethir (CRYPTO:ATH) - Distributed GPU infrastructure
Aethir aggregates GPU capacity for AI workloads and cloud gaming.
Its live dashboard shows approximately US$62.49 million in annual recurring revenue, 2.51 billion compute hours delivered and 433,652 GPU containers.
These are platform-reported figures, not independently verified revenue forecasts.
Aethir’s model centres on supplying computing capacity, while Injective’s new index creates a market linked to GPU rental prices.
Bittensor (CRYPTO:TAO) - A network of specialised AI services
Bittensor rewards specialised subnets that provide services such as AI inference, computing and data processing.
On 27 October, its ecosystem tracker showed 128 subnets, around 11.66 million TAO in circulating supply and approximately US$102.36 million in 24-hour trading volume.
About 64% of the token supply was staked. Unlike a single GPU marketplace, Bittensor coordinates different services through its subnet system.
The bottom line
Injective’s new index creates a way to trade changes in GPU rental prices, while Render, Akash and Aethir focus on supplying computing capacity and Bittensor coordinates specialised AI services.
Their models address different parts of the same market, but network usage alone does not establish token value or sustained profitability.
Adoption will depend on paying customers, verifiable demand, liquidity and whether each network’s token economics capture value from actual activity.
