Solana triples transaction size with new upgrade

  • Solana has raised its maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes.
  • The upgrade gives developers more room for complex transactions, multisig wallets and zero-knowledge proofs.
  • The change narrows a structural gap with Ethereum but does not increase transaction speed.

Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) has raised its maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes through its new Transaction V1 format.

The upgrade went live on mainnet on September 15 and gives developers more space for complex blockchain operations.

The larger limit allows more steps, signatures and data to fit inside one transaction while keeping those actions atomic.

The change could support larger company wallets, multi-signature approvals and zero-knowledge proofs without splitting operations across several transactions.

Developers previously used transaction bundles and other workarounds when operations exceeded the old 1,232-byte limit.

The upgrade narrows one structural difference with Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), which does not use a fixed transaction-size limit at the protocol level.

Older Solana transaction formats remain supported, but wallets, analytics platforms and other services must update their systems to read the new Transaction V1 format.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $101.12.
