  • Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) plans to activate Transaction V1 on September 9, raising transaction size to 4,096 bytes.
  • The new limit is about 3.3 times Solana’s current 1,232-byte transaction limit.
  • Solana is also preparing separate rent cuts, faster slots and an October target for Alpenglow.

Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) plans to activate Transaction V1 on September 9, increasing its transaction limit to 4,096 bytes.

The change will raise the maximum size from 1,232 bytes, or about 3.3 times the current limit.

Solana Foundation vice president Jacob Creech said several network changes are planned, including Transaction V1 and rent reductions.

The larger transaction format could support zero-knowledge proofs, complex multisignature instructions and other data-heavy operations.

Developers must choose the V1 format, while existing legacy and version-zero transactions will remain valid.

Solana has also cut its target slot time to 350 milliseconds, with separate plans for 300, 250 and 200 milliseconds.

The network plans five rent-reduction stages that could eventually cut the calculation from 6,960 to 696 lamports per byte.

Alpenglow remains an October target, with Solana aiming for about 150-millisecond transaction finality after activation.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $101.48.
