Solana triples transaction size to 4,096 bytes
- Solana will raise its maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes on Wednesday.
- The change will let more complex operations fit into one transaction.
- Wallets and other services must update to support the new format.
Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) has announced plans to raise its transaction limit from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes.
The change will give developers more than three times the space for each transaction.
Transaction v1 will allow complex proofs and large multisig payments to fit into one transaction.
Existing transaction formats will still work, so apps do not need to switch unless they need more space.
Services that read Solana data must update to recognise Transaction v1 and display priority fees correctly.
Larger transactions will use more network bandwidth and could require higher priority fees during busy periods.
The new limit comes from proposals SIMD-0296 and SIMD-0385, which were co-authored by Jacob Creech and Andrew Fitzgerald.
At the time of reporting, Solana price was $103.65.
