Solana founder blasts Sanders over AI fears

Share

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has publicly rejected Senator Bernie Sanders' warning that artificial intelligence and robotics could destroy millions of American jobs, reigniting debate over automation, wealth creation and the future of work.

Sanders argued that Congress has done little to address potential job displacement from AI because lawmakers are influenced by growing political spending from the technology sector, while renewing his call to ban super PACs and strengthen anti-corruption measures.

“Sanders is focusing on hypothetical sci fi problems because he is completely f’ing useless at solving any real problems,”

Yakovenko wrote in a social media post responding to the senator's comments.

The exchange comes as AI-focused political groups increase their influence in Washington, with Leading the Future, a super PAC network backed by OpenAI president Greg Brockman and venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, reportedly raising $125 million in late 2025 and committing at least $100 million for the midterm elections.

Yakovenko expanded his criticism across a series of posts, arguing that billionaires primarily control productive capital rather than hoarded wealth and that economic growth driven by innovation is responsible for improving living standards over time.

The Solana founder also linked the discussion to decentralised finance, arguing that profitable financial services will increasingly be recreated through smart contracts, reducing the cost of financial infrastructure and expanding access to markets.

Meanwhile, Solana traded at around $65.36, up nearly 6% over 24 hours, as investors continued to monitor the growing intersection between technology policy, artificial intelligence and the crypto industry's push for regulatory support.

At the time of reporting, Solana price was $65.24.
