Robinhood adds Worldcoin as WLD drops 15%
- Robinhood added Worldcoin (CRYPTO:WLD) to its crypto trading platform on June 23.
- WLD fell nearly 15% to about US$0.53 despite gaining access to Robinhood’s retail customer base.
- Investors remain focused on allegations linked to the Worldcoin ecosystem and a planned token unlock reduction in July.
Worldcoin (CRYPTO:WLD) fell nearly 15% to around US$0.53 after Robinhood added the token to its trading platform, giving the project broader exposure to retail investors during a period of heightened scrutiny.
The listing came as WLD traded well below its June high near US$0.70, with traders showing limited enthusiasm despite the increased visibility typically associated with major brokerage listings.
A report highlighted by podcaster Katie Miller said internal investigations at Orb examined payments allegedly approved by company leadership to a foreign entity with the reported aim of influencing WLD market performance.
The allegations have added to existing concerns surrounding Worldcoin’s biometric identity verification system and token distribution model, while BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes recently disclosed that he had sold his WLD holdings.
Investors are also watching a planned reduction in Worldcoin’s token unlock rate from July 24, 2026, which the project said will slow the pace of new tokens entering circulation; following the announcement the Worldcoin price was down at US$0.53.
The project has remained a closely watched crypto asset because of its links to OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman, although no direct connection exists between OpenAI’s corporate plans and Worldcoin’s token economics.
Market data showed WLD retreating to the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level near US$0.53 after failing to hold above US$0.60, while momentum indicators pointed to weakening buying pressure following its rally toward US$0.70 earlier this month.
At the time of reporting, Worldcoin price was $0.5429.
