Onchain investigator ZachXBT identified Crédit Mutuel Arkéa as the alleged victim of a crypto theft exceeding $133 million.
ZachXBT described the French banking group as holding $235 billion in assets and said the incident spanned multiple days.
“I suspect the amount stolen is larger when accounting for OTC activity,” ZachXBT said on Telegram.
He warned that earlier estimates may exclude additional losses linked to over-the-counter transactions.
Bitquery traced $62.98 million in stablecoins converted into 27,553 Ether (ETH) through UniswapX within approximately four hours.
The funds moved through accounts at Kraken, Crypto.com and OKX, according to Bitquery’s analysis.
Kraken restricted linked accounts, while Crypto.com blocked associated funds; both exchanges said their platforms remained secure.
The alleged theft highlights the financial risks facing banks as digital asset activity intersects with traditional financial infrastructure.
