Giustra criticises Bitcoin advocates and Saylor
- Canadian billionaire Frank Giustra criticised prominent Bitcoin advocates including Michael Saylor and Anthony Scaramucci.
- Giustra argued that Bitcoin price expectations promoted by some supporters have not been achieved and have encouraged excessive speculation.
- The comments highlight ongoing divisions within the digital asset industry over Bitcoin's role and long-term value.
Canadian billionaire Frank Giustra renewed his criticism of Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) advocates, targeting Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor and SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci in a series of public comments.
The latest exchange began after Scaramucci reaffirmed his support for Saylor, prompting Giustra to respond with a quote from author Mark Twain that cautioned against moving too far ahead of a group without confirming continued support.
“If you’re riding ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it’s still there,” said Mark Twain in the quote shared by Giustra.
Giustra said he believes Bitcoin supporters have promoted increasingly ambitious price forecasts and argued that Bitcoin has not met some of the expectations presented by its most vocal advocates.
The comments add to a long-running debate over Bitcoin's investment case and utility, and there was no immediate market reaction following Giustra's remarks.
Giustra has previously criticised Bitcoin while expressing support for certain other areas of the digital asset sector, including stablecoins, which he said provide practical utility within financial markets.
Michael Saylor remains one of Bitcoin's most prominent corporate supporters through Strategy's ongoing accumulation programme, while Scaramucci has consistently advocated for wider adoption of digital assets among institutional investors.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $60,697.12.
