- Fnality has appointed three former central-bank officials to its boards.
- The appointments strengthen the blockchain payments firm’s leadership across the UK and Europe.
- Fnality is seeking approval to expand its payment system into US dollars and euros.
Fnality has appointed former Bank of England deputy governor Jon Cunliffe as chair of its UK board.
Former Bundesbank payments executive Jochen Metzger and Ron Berndsen have also joined Fnality Europe’s supervisory board.
“It is really important that we find a way to get central banks and central bank money at the heart of the new technologies that were pioneered in the crypto world,” Cunliffe said in an interview.
Fnality operates a blockchain-based payment system designed for transfers between financial institutions.
The company launched its regulated sterling payment system in 2023.
Fnality is now seeking regulatory approval for US dollar and euro versions of its payment system.
The appointments come as Fnality expands its institutional payments network across major financial markets.
