Ethereum sets Glamsterdam for Sepolia upgrade

Ethereum (ETH) has scheduled its Glamsterdam upgrade for Sepolia on 6 October 2026.

The upgrade will activate at epoch 353,024 and slot 11,296,768 at 13:53:36 UTC.

Glamsterdam combines Amsterdam’s execution changes with Gloas’ consensus-layer upgrade, targeting higher Layer 1 throughput.

The upgrade introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation, moving builder coordination into Ethereum’s consensus protocol.

Block-level access lists will record accessed accounts and storage locations, enabling parallel state reads and transaction validation.

Glamsterdam also changes gas accounting, including separate costs for state creation and updated state-access pricing.

Node operators must update execution and consensus clients, while developers should test contracts against the revised gas rules.

Following the update, ETH was trading down 0.01% at $2,685.23.
