  • Ethereum has withdrawn EIP-8363 from consideration for the Hegota upgrade.
  • The proposal would burn validator rewards as staking levels rise.
  • Developers will instead debate Ethereum’s issuance policy through a separate process.

Ethereum (ETH) developers have withdrawn EIP-8363 from consideration for the Hegota upgrade.

The proposal would burn more validator rewards as the amount of staked ETH increases.

“We agree and we’d rather acknowledge this now than carry on towards Hegotà in this context,” Ethereum France President Jérôme de Tychey wrote in an X post on Thursday morning.

The withdrawal followed objections that Hegota’s fork-scoping process could not resolve Ethereum’s issuance policy debate.

EIP-8363 would eventually burn 100% of validator issuance near 60.25 million staked ETH.

The proposal would phase its reward changes over about 18 months after activation.

Its authors plan issuance forums from Devcon in November through EthCC in April.

Following the update, ETH was trading up 0.8% at $2,705.03.
