Key points

  • The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched its tokenisation service for securities held by its subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company (DTC).
  • The service supports tokenised representations of securities, with 20 DTC participants signing agreements to access it.
  • The launch connects traditional securities infrastructure with blockchain networks, with further network integrations planned for 2027.

DTCC has launched its tokenisation service, enabling eligible users to convert securities held by DTC into digital representations.

The service allows tokenised securities to move between traditional and digital forms while retaining existing ownership rights and investor protections.

“Today marks the culmination of years of work to bring tokenized securities into a regulated framework supported by trusted market infrastructure,” DTCC President and Chief Executive Officer Frank La Salla said in a statement.

The service aims to help investors transfer assets more efficiently, access additional liquidity and move collateral within minutes.

Twenty DTC participants, including JPMorgan, Bank of America, Citi and Morgan Stanley, have signed agreements to access the service.

The platform currently connects with the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with further blockchain integrations planned for 2027.

DTC received a US Securities and Exchange Commission no-action letter in December 2025 covering tokenisation of Russell 1000 stocks, major index-tracking exchange-traded funds and US Treasury securities.

The launch expands regulated tokenisation infrastructure within traditional financial markets, while DTCC holds more than US$114 trillion in assets under custody.
