Cathie Wood says Bitcoin is in institutional bull market

Cathie Wood said Bitcoin has entered an institutional bull market as major financial firms increasingly adopt digital asset infrastructure and tokenisation strategies.

The ARK Invest founder recalled how the firm faced criticism after buying Bitcoin in 2015 before institutional interest accelerated across the sector.

Wood described the transformation of Larry Fink as a key turning point for institutional crypto adoption after the BlackRock executive shifted from skepticism toward supporting tokenisation and digital assets.

“Larry Fink’s transformation was so extreme that it gave the entire industry a ‘permission to join,’”

Wood said, adding:

“If the world’s largest asset manager says ‘this matters,’ others feel compelled to learn.”

Wood also highlighted the rapid rise of stablecoins, describing fiat-backed digital assets as an important bridge connecting traditional finance with decentralised finance infrastructure.

She said institutions are no longer simply buying Bitcoin exposure but are increasingly building financial products around tokenised assets and permissioned blockchain systems.

Wood argued that Bitcoin continues dominating the role of a global monetary asset, while Ethereum and Solana compete more directly in decentralised finance and smart contract ecosystems.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $80,915.53.
