  • Early-stage investment firm Breed VC closed a $15 million second fund focused on pre-seed and seed digital asset startups.
  • The vehicle will write checks between $250,000 and $750,000 targeting open financial infrastructure and decentralised artificial intelligence.
  • Backers include institutional platforms FalconX and Hutt Capital along with industry executives Nic Carter and Rob Hadick.

Boston-based venture firm Breed VC has closed $15 million for its second early-stage crypto fund, according to an exclusive report by The Block.

The vehicle targets early-stage startups building decentralised protocols across open financial infrastructure and decentralised artificial intelligence.

Tourist capital and mercenary projects have washed out, entry valuations have rationalised, and the founders building today are in it for the long term and focused on real problems that need to be solved, said Founder Jed Breed.

Capital deployments will range from $250,000 to $750,000 per project over a three-to-four-year horizon.

The strategy emphasises high-conviction pre-seed and seed investments to maximise investor returns rather than management fee generation.

Early allocations from the new pool already include investments in startups Silicon Data, 3Jane, M1X Global, and USD.AI.

The firm's fully invested 2023 debut fund ranks in the top 10% of comparable vintage funds and has begun returning cash to backers.

The initiative marks a direct shift toward light-touch federal oversight across emerging digital asset markets.
