  • Binance runs monthly security tests to strengthen its cyber defences.
  • The exchange uses fake attacks to train employees against hackers.
  • The programme aims to reduce the risk of successful cyber breaches.

Binance runs monthly security drills that simulate real cyber attacks to help employees spot and stop hackers before they can cause damage.

The exchange said the tests are part of its wider effort to improve security as cyber threats against the cryptocurrency industry continue to grow.

"We red-team our own employees every month to make sure they stay vigilant," said Jimmy Su, Binance's Chief Security Officer.

The exercises include fake phishing emails and other attack methods that criminals commonly use to steal data or gain access to company systems.

Binance said the training helps staff recognise suspicious activity and respond quickly before an attack can spread.

The cryptocurrency industry has faced several major cyber attacks in recent years, prompting exchanges to invest more in security and employee training.

Binance said regular testing is an important part of protecting customer funds and keeping its platform secure.
