
Arcus joins Robinhood for tokenised trading
- dYdX Labs rebranded its decentralised exchange as Arcus and partnered with Robinhood to launch it on the new Robinhood Chain.
- Arcus will offer perpetual trading and fee-free trading of 95 tokenised stocks as Robinhood expands its digital asset services.
- The companies said the existing dYdX blockchain will continue operating independently and will not be affected by the new platform.
Arcus, formerly known as dYdX Labs, partnered with Robinhood to launch its decentralised exchange on the new Robinhood Chain, adding perpetual trading and fee-free trading for 95 tokenised stocks.
The launch coincides with Robinhood's rollout of its Arbitrum-based layer-2 blockchain and forms part of the company's broader expansion into tokenised assets and perpetual trading as competition in digital asset markets increases.
“Until now, traders have been shut out of the most valuable markets on earth — US equities, commodities, and indices — because of where they live, market hours, and institutions restricting access,” said Arcus.
Arcus said tokenised stock trading and perpetual products will launch this month, with tokenised equities also serving as collateral for perpetual positions and providing access to pre-initial public offering markets, while Robinhood Crypto has made an investment in the project without disclosing financial terms.
The dYdX Foundation said Arcus is a separate product built on independent infrastructure and confirmed the dYdX blockchain will continue operating under community ownership, while following the announcement Robinhood Markets shares were not discussed.
Robinhood's latest expansion follows growing demand for perpetual trading platforms, while competitors including Coinbase have broadened their offerings by adding stock trading and launching blockchain infrastructure.
The Robinhood Chain also gained support from Bitget Wallet and 1inch, both of which announced integrations that will allow users to access tokenised assets and decentralised trading services on the new network.
