Anchorage expands Bitso partnership for US-Mexico stablecoin corridor
Key points
- Anchorage Digital is expanding its partnership with Bitso to provide custody infrastructure for a US-Mexico stablecoin corridor.
- The arrangement targets digital asset transfers between the United States and Mexico through Bitso’s cross-border payments network.
- The partnership positions regulated custody as part of the infrastructure supporting stablecoin-based international payments.
Anchorage Digital has expanded its Bitso partnership, custodying MXNB across six blockchains as Bitso lists USDPT and USAT.
The US-Mexico remittance corridor moves tens of billions of dollars annually, with 15% already flowing through Bitso’s infrastructure.
“The US-Mexico corridor is where stablecoins stop being a thesis and start moving real money at scale,” Anchorage Digital CEO and co-founder Nathan McCauley said in a statement.
Anchorage Digital Bank now safeguards MXNB across Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum (ETH), Polygon, Avalanche (AVAX) and Arc.
“Trust is paramount for demanding clients looking to move dollars and pesos onchain,” Bitso Head of Stablecoin Ben Reid said in a statement.
Bitso has listed USDPT, issued by Western Union, and USAT, issued by Tether, with both stablecoins issued and custodied by Anchorage Digital Bank.
Mexican users can buy and sell USDPT with pesos through Bitso’s app, while Western Union agents with Bitso Business accounts can convert USDPT into supported currencies.
The partnership extends regulated custody across dollar and peso stablecoins, supporting onchain settlement within the US-Mexico payments corridor.
