The dispute centres on funds frozen by Arbitrum DAO after a $300 million exploit linked to North Korean hackers targeting the Kelp DAO protocol in April.

Relatives of a slain South Korean minister are seeking to claim the assets, citing a $330 million US court judgment against North Korea, prompting a restraining order blocking any transfer.

Aave argued the claim is invalid, stating the frozen assets belong to its users and not to the hackers or any associated state actors.

“We are rejecting the baseless claim that stolen property title belongs to the thief,”
