Worley secures major US power infrastructure contract
Worley (ASX:WOR) has secured an engineering services contract from American Electric Power to support the expansion of its power generation infrastructure in the United States.
Under the new agreement, Worley will deliver comprehensive engineering, detailed design, and procurement support services for Stages 3 and 4 of the Northeastern U5/6 Simple Cycle Gas Turbine project.
The development is situated at the Public Service Company of Oklahoma’s Northeastern Generation Facility, located in Oklahoma.
The project's core scope focuses on the engineering and detailed design phases for a brand-new, natural gas-fired power generation facility.
Once completed, the site will feature two advanced gas turbines boasting a combined generating capacity of approximately 450 megawatts.
The major undertaking will be executed under Worley’s pre-existing Master Services Agreement with AEP.
To deliver the project, Worley will leverage its extensive US presence and global network. Operations will be spearheaded by the company’s office in Reading, Pennsylvania, with key technical backing from the Global Integrated Delivery team.
Additional project support will be provided by Worley’s specialised offices in Louisiana and Houston, Texas.
Worley CEO Chris Ashton emphasised the company's strong credentials in the sector, noting that Worley has successfully delivered over 400 gas turbine projects globally.
