Monadelphous secures $380M Queensland power plant contract
Australian engineering company Monadelphous Group (ASX:MND) has secured a contract valued at approximately $380 million with CS Energy.
The substantial deal focuses on the balance-of-plant construction and installation of 12 aeroderivative gas turbine generator units for the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant near Chinchilla, Queensland.
The facility will boast a combined capacity of 400 megawatts. The scope of works also encompasses the engineering and design of minor packages, with construction slated to commence in the second half of this year and wrap up by early 2029.
Once fully operational, the gas peaking plant will play a pivotal role in reinforcing power system reliability and complementing renewable energy by delivering power to more than 150,000 homes during peak electricity demand periods.
The project is set to provide a notable economic boost to the local region; Monadelphous forecasts a peak workforce of around 300 people and has committed to facilitating local employment and supply opportunities.
Monadelphous Managing Director Zoran Bebic emphasised that the award highlights the company’s strengthening position in supporting Australia’s ongoing energy transition.
"We are pleased to be partnering with CS Energy on the Brigalow Peaking Power Plant, supporting reliable and flexible energy supply," Bebic stated, adding that the company is proud to continue contributing to critical energy infrastructure across Australia.
