Li-S Energy (ASX:LIS) has signed a collaboration agreement with drone manufacturer Safesky Systems to integrate Australian-made lithium-sulphur battery cells into tactical uncrewed aerial systems.
The agreement establishes a framework for both companies to test and evaluate battery integration, aiming to replace conventional lithium-ion batteries in defence platforms.
The company stated that its lithium-sulphur cells can deliver almost twice the range, operating time, and payload-carrying capacity compared to standard lithium-ion batteries.
Under the framework, joint integration testing will begin shortly, with progression to a commercial supply agreement contingent on successful trial results.
Following the announcement, the Li-S Energy share price was unchanged at $0.15.
Safesky Systems operates out of Melbourne, Victoria, and maintains operations in both Australia and the United States.
The Victoria-based defence manufacturer builds National Defence Authorisation Act compliant platforms designed to utilise allied supply chains.
