
Jade Gas CEO Christopher Newport resigns effective immediately
Jade Gas Holdings Ltd (ASX:JGH) has announced the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Christopher Newport, effective immediately, due to personal and family circumstances.
The board noted that during his tenure, Mr Newport oversaw the advancement of the company’s flagship coal bed methane (CBM) project in the South Gobi Basin of Mongolia and contributed to strengthening Jade’s position in the Asian energy market.
The company also confirmed that all of Mr Newport’s unvested options have lapsed, as the relevant vesting conditions were not met.
Jade Gas stated that its broader executive and operational teams remain in place and that its 2026 operational and commercial objectives in Mongolia are unchanged.
Executive Director Joe Burke is expected to have an expanded role during the transition period, while the board undertakes a formal process to appoint a permanent successor.
The company reiterated its focus on progressing its strategy to become a significant natural gas supplier to both the Mongolian domestic market and neighbouring energy markets.
