Desert Minerals (ASX:DSM) commenced reverse circulation drilling at the Providence prospect within the Mt Monger Gold Project in Western Australia.

The initial programme comprises approximately 1,000m of drilling designed to test extensions to the existing mineral resource.

The Providence deposit currently hosts an inferred mineral resource of 204,700 tonnes at 2.5 grammes per tonne of gold for 16,400 ounces.

Historical reverse circulation drilling intersections at the prospect include 8m at 31.84 grammes per tonne gold from 66m.

Following the announcement, the Desert Minerals share price was unchanged at $0.70.

The company stated that results from the programme are expected to support ongoing resource growth studies and regional targeting.

Desert Minerals maintains a reported cash balance of approximately $4.1 million to fund ongoing corporate and project activities.
