Cryptocurrency giant Binance has appointed financial services veteran Jenny Wei as its new general manager for Australia and New Zealand.

Wei steps into the role with more than 18 years of experience across Australia’s heavily regulated financial sector.

Based in Sydney, she most recently led the establishment and scaling of Australian operations for Ebonex, a cryptocurrency over-the-counter desk.

Prior to her work in digital assets, Wei spent 13 years at Western Union specialising in international payments and global financial markets.

The executive transition comes as global platforms face intensifying local oversight. Binance co-CEO Richard Teng emphasised that Australia remains a critical market, stating that Wei’s appointment reinforces the exchange's commitment to delivering a reliable, compliant platform while actively collaborating with the broader financial ecosystem.

Wei highlighted that navigating the region's sophisticated regulatory framework will be central to her mandate.

"As digital assets continue to mature, long-term growth in the sector will depend on strong governance, regulatory engagement, and a genuine commitment to compliance," Wei said, adding that her immediate focus will centre on strengthening regional operations and risk management.
