
ANZ reports $1.95B third quarter profit
- ANZ reported a statutory profit of $1.95 billion and a cash profit of $1.90 billion.
- The third-quarter results were slightly weighed down by a NZ$125 million pre-tax legal expense provision.
- The company stated its forward strategy relies on leveraging recent growth in customer deposits and loans.
ANZ (ASX:ANZ) recorded a statutory profit of $1.95 billion for the third quarter ended June 30.
It also logged a $1.90 billion cash profit, representing a 1% increase against the preceding half-year quarterly average.
Operating expenses reached $2.78 billion as the bank absorbed a NZ$125 million legal expense provision. Operating income reached $5.60 billion.
The provision followed a May New Zealand class action ruling that the company has appealed.
"We are continuing to progress the integration of Suncorp Bank and delivery of the ANZ single customer front-end and are on track to meet our FY26 year-end completion targets of 57% and 45%, respectively," said ANZ CEO Nuno Matos.
Signalling a stable forward outlook, following the announcement the ANZ share price was down at $36.39.
ANZ’s Common Equity Tier 1 ratio as of June 30 was 12.51%, up 12 basis points from March 31.
The business grew its total customer deposits by 2% from March 2026 to reach $786 billion.
The company stated that net loans and advances also increased by 3% to total $846 billion.
