Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) signed an agreement to source Victorian battery electricity, supporting its $20 billion Australian investment.
The company committed $20 billion by 2029 to expand local cloud computing and artificial intelligence data centres.
Under the arrangement, electricity will come from the Bairnsdale battery energy storage system operated by Anza Power.
The contract marks the enterprise's first standalone battery storage tolling agreement globally, providing power grid access for fixed payments.
Following the announcement, the Amazon share price was down at $254.92.
In April, the firm signed nine renewable energy power purchase agreements across New South Wales and Victoria.
Global infrastructure investor I Squared Capital established developer Anza Power earlier this year.
