WeRide (NASDAQ:WRD) and Lenovo Group announced an ambitious expansion of their strategic partnership at Auto China 2026, setting a target to deploy 200,000 Level 4 autonomous vehicles globally over the next five years.

The agreement marks one of the largest commercial commitments to date in the autonomous driving sector.

Starting in 2026, the two companies will scale a diverse fleet of "Physical AI" solutions, including Robotaxis, autonomous minibuses, and automated sanitation vehicles.

The collaboration combines WeRide’s operational expertise across 40 cities in 12 countries with Lenovo’s global supply chain and high-performance automotive computing.

Central to this massive deployment is the newly unveiled HPC 3.0 high-performance computing platform.

Built on Lenovo’s AD1 domain controller, the system is powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor system-on-chip (SoC).

Utilizing the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, the platform delivers over 2,000 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second) of AI computing power—a necessity for the real-time reasoning and generative AI workloads required for complex urban navigation.

The companies emphasized that the shift from pilot programs to mass-market commercialization is now driven by unit economics.

The HPC 3.0 platform reportedly reduces the cost of the autonomous driving suite by approximately 50% and slashes the total cost of ownership (TCO) by 84% over its lifecycle compared to the previous HPC 2.0 generation.

The first mass-produced vehicle to feature the HPC 3.0 technology will be the WeRide Robotaxi GXR.

Beyond hardware, Lenovo will provide the underlying computing infrastructure and automotive-grade engineering to ensure the fleet meets stringent global safety and redundancy standards.
