Vertical Aerospace opens aircraft assembly centre
- Vertical Aerospace opened a dedicated Aircraft Assembly Centre at its Cotswold Airport Flight Test Centre to support Valo eVTOL aircraft production.
- The facility adds 60,000 square feet of assembly space after a £1.5 million investment, expanding the company’s airport operations to about 130,000 square feet.
- Vertical Aerospace said the centre will support certification aircraft production, with initial assembly planned for Q4 2027 and early deliveries after certification.
Vertical Aerospace (NYSE:EVTL) opened a dedicated Aircraft Assembly Centre at its Cotswold Airport Flight Test Centre, adding 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space to support the development and production of its Valo electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
The facility opening marks the company’s move from prototype development and flight testing toward certification and commercial production, with Vertical Aerospace working toward a targeted Type Certification milestone with the UK Civil Aviation Authority in 2029.
“The opening of our Aircraft Assembly Centre represents the next phase of our journey toward certification and commercial operations,” said Vertical Aerospace Chief Executive Officer.
The new centre was supported by a £1.5 million investment and will provide space for building certification-conforming aircraft used in compliance demonstrations and verification testing, with assembly of the first certification aircraft expected to begin in Q4 2027.
Vertical Aerospace develops electric aircraft technology, including its Valo eVTOL aircraft, which is designed for short-distance air transportation and related aviation applications.
The company said the assembly centre will support early production capacity of more than 25 Valo aircraft annually after certification, while higher-volume manufacturing will be handled at a separate full-scale production facility that Vertical Aerospace expects to announce in Q4 2026.
