Sigma Lithium disputes Brazil license ruling report

Sigma Lithium (NASDAQ:SGML) said its mining and industrial operations in Brazil remain ongoing despite reports of a preliminary judicial ruling that allegedly suspends environmental licenses connected to its activities.
The company said it has not received legal communication regarding the reported decision and that operations at Vale do Jequitinhonha continue while it works on expansion plans.
The company said its operations support approximately 19,000 job positions and around 80,000 family members, while production plans are supported by a TAC Agreement with Minas Gerais State Authorities.
Sigma Lithium expects to deliver 240,000 tonnes of lithium oxide concentrate within the next 12 months and 330,000 tonnes during fiscal year 2027, while any fines or enforcement actions would only apply if a final negative decision is issued after legal proceedings.
The company produces lithium concentrate used in battery supply chains and is expanding output capacity in Brazil as demand for lithium materials increases across electric vehicle markets.
Sigma Lithium said similar legal cases involving preliminary rulings can take multiple years before reaching a final decision, leaving the company’s current operations continuing.
