National Energy Services Reunited (NASDAQ:NESR) signed an agreement with Aramco for a lithium demonstration project in Saudi Arabia valued at approximately $200 million.

The agreement was entered into through NESR Environmental and Decarbonization Applications and covers the Aramco 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project for a period of up to five years.

The project is designed to produce approximately 2,000 tons per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with commissioning and initial production planned for late 2027.

NESR said the project will use its LiThara platform for brine pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction and carbonation while combining NEDA technology with Aramco’s subsurface capabilities.

The company stated that the demonstration project is intended to support lithium production from Saudi Arabian brines and establish the technical basis for potential future development.

NESR’s LiThara platform covers multiple stages of lithium processing, including preparing brine, separating lithium and converting the extracted material into lithium carbonate.

The agreement expands NESR’s work beyond traditional oilfield services into minerals and decarbonization technologies, with the lithium project scheduled to move toward commissioning during 2027.
