IDEXX expands Faecal Dx testing in UK
- IDEXX Laboratories (NASDAQ:IDXX) expanded its Faecal Dx™ antigen testing platform in the United Kingdom to include taeniid tapeworm detection.
- The company said the update adds broader parasite detection capabilities for IDEXX Reference Laboratories customers in the UK without an additional cost.
- IDEXX said the expansion supports its strategy of extending the clinical scope of its veterinary diagnostic platforms.
IDEXX Laboratories (NASDAQ:IDXX) announced an expansion of its Faecal Dx™ antigen testing platform in the United Kingdom to detect taeniid tapeworms, including Taenia and Echinococcus species, adding another parasite group to its veterinary testing offering.
The update follows the continued use of Faecal Dx since its launch in 2012, with more than 50 million tests completed worldwide compared with the company’s previous testing scope before the latest menu expansion.
“This advancement reflects how we innovate at IDEXX, developing platforms that grow with our customers as care evolves,” said IDEXX President and CEO Mike Erickson.
The expanded Faecal Dx testing panels and profiles for IDEXX Reference Laboratories customers in the UK now include taeniid tapeworm detection at no additional cost, while positive results will automatically trigger a complimentary follow-up Echinococcus RealPCR test.
IDEXX develops veterinary diagnostic products and services, including laboratory testing platforms used by animal healthcare providers, and has expanded the Faecal Dx platform through additional parasite detection capabilities over time.
The company stated that Faecal Dx now detects seven clinically relevant intestinal parasite groups, including hookworm, roundworm, whipworm, flea tapeworm, taeniid tapeworms, Cystoisospora and Giardia in selected panels.
