HPE receives $1.2 billion AI infrastructure order
- HPE (NYSE:HPE) announced a $1.2 billion order from Vultr for AMD Helios AI Rack systems at U.S. cloud data centers.
- The order marks HPE’s first customer deployment of the new AMD Helios system, combining AI compute, networking and cooling technologies.
- HPE and AMD will support Vultr’s expansion of AI infrastructure for model training and inference workloads.
HPE (NYSE:HPE) announced a $1.2 billion order from Vultr for the deployment of AMD Helios AI Rack by HPE systems across Vultr’s U.S. cloud data center locations.
The order represents HPE’s first deployment of the AMD Helios system and builds on nearly three years of collaboration between Vultr and Juniper Networks, which became part of HPE through its acquisition of the networking company.
The AMD Helios AI Rack by HPE includes 72 AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, AMD EPYC "Venice" CPUs, AMD Pensando Vulcano AI NICs networking, AMD ROCm software and HPE Networking scale-up Ethernet switching, while HPE Services will support deployment and liquid-cooling operations.
The system is part of HPE’s AI Data Center Solutions portfolio, which combines compute, networking and infrastructure technologies designed for artificial intelligence workloads.
HPE stated that the Vultr order demonstrates its strategy of providing integrated AI infrastructure using HPE compute, HPE Juniper Networking technologies, liquid cooling and rack-scale engineering for enterprise and service provider customers.
