  • GE HealthCare agreed to acquire U.S.-based contract manufacturing organization SOFIE Biosciences for $945 million in cash.
  • The transaction expands the company's footprint in radiopharmaceuticals and adds the Phase III pipeline PET radiotracer FAPI-74.
  • The company stated the acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2027 pending customary regulatory approvals.

GE HealthCare (NASDAQ:GEHC) executed a definitive agreement to acquire SOFIE Biosciences from Trilantic North America for a cash purchase price of $945 million.

The acquisition establishes a footprint in the time-critical final mile of U.S. PET radiopharmaceutical supply while incorporating a network of 15 contract manufacturing sites.

"As part of GE HealthCare, SOFIE Biosciences is expected to grow in the low double digits, and enables us to participate across the radiopharmaceutical value stream," said GE HealthCare Pharmaceutical Diagnostics President and CEO Kevin O'Neill.

Upon closing, SOFIE Biosciences will be integrated directly into GE HealthCare's Pharmaceutical Diagnostics segment alongside ongoing contract manufacturing partnerships.

Following the announcement, GE HealthCare's share price was up at $88.50.

The acquisition secures U.S. rights to FAPI-74, a Phase III pipeline PET radiotracer with pan-cancer imaging potential aimed at fast-growing markets.

The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, with completion expected in the first half of 2027.
