Lilly reports Zepbound weight-loss comparison with Wegovy HD

• Eli Lilly reported an indirect analysis associating Zepbound 10 mg and 15 mg with greater weight loss than Wegovy HD in adults with obesity.
• At 72 weeks, Zepbound 15 mg showed 4.5% greater average body-weight loss than Wegovy HD 7.2 mg under the treatment-regimen analysis.
• The comparison used data from separate SURMOUNT-1 and STEP UP trials rather than a direct head-to-head study.

Eli Lilly (NYSE:LLY) reported an indirect comparison suggesting that Zepbound 10 mg and 15 mg were associated with greater weight loss than Wegovy HD 7.2 mg in adults with obesity.

The analysis used data from the SURMOUNT-1 and STEP UP clinical trials, comparing results across separate studies rather than from a direct head-to-head trial.

Under the treatment-regimen analysis, Lilly reported that Zepbound 15 mg was associated with 4.5% greater average body-weight loss than Wegovy HD 7.2 mg at 72 weeks, while Zepbound 10 mg was associated with 3.2% greater average weight loss.

Lilly also reported that patients receiving Zepbound 15 mg had higher estimated odds of achieving at least 20% body-weight loss compared with Wegovy HD, with odds ratios of 3.54 under the treatment-regimen analysis and 4.15 under the efficacy analysis.

However, the efficacy-based differences in average weight loss were smaller, with a 1.8% difference for Zepbound 15 mg and a 0.7% difference for Zepbound 10 mg, and neither reached statistical significance.

The higher estimated odds of achieving at least 20% weight loss with Zepbound 10 mg also did not reach statistical significance.

Lilly said discontinuation rates due to adverse events were comparable across the treatments.
