Abbott Boosts 2026 Profit Guidance as Sales Across Business Rise

The company now expects adjusted earnings to fall between $5.45 to $5.60 a share this year, a 5-cent improvement at the midpoint, it said in a statement Thursday. Profit and sales in the second quarter both surpassed Wall Street estimates. Shares rose 2.7% in early trading in New York.  Abbott's device and diabetes businesses modestly beat Wall Street estimates. Its FreeStyle Libre 3 glucose sensors were linked late last year to more than 700 injuries and seven deaths after they were found to be providing incorrect readings.

Lilly to Buy Psychedelic Firm AtaiBeckley for Up to $3.8 Billion

The base price is 26% above where AtaiBeckley shares closed Wednesday. The announcement confirms a report by Bloomberg News that the companies were nearing a deal.
