Brookfield closes Oaktree asset-backed finance fund at $2 billion

Brookfield (NYSE:BAM) announced the final close of Oaktree’s inaugural Asset-Backed Finance Fund, with total commitments of $2 billion across the fund and related investment vehicles.

The fundraising achieved its target and received commitments from institutional investors worldwide, including U.S. public pension plans and sovereign wealth funds.

The strategy will provide capital to originators across asset-backed finance sectors, including equipment leasing, transportation, consumer finance, real estate and infrastructure.

Brookfield stated that its partnership with Oaktree strengthens sourcing and underwriting capabilities while expanding opportunities in asset-based finance.

The new fund complements Brookfield’s broader asset-based finance platform, which manages more than $60 billion in assets.
