
Zcash holders back faster blocks and halvings
- Zcash holders have backed cutting block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.
- Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated, with 98.9% supporting the existing halving schedule.
- About 99.3% also backed launching the NU7 upgrade as soon as possible.
Zcash (CRYPTO:ZEC) holders have overwhelmingly backed faster transactions and the network’s existing halving schedule in a governance vote.
Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated, representing about two-thirds of the roughly 3.6 million eligible ZEC.
Some 99.9% supported cutting block times from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, which can speed payment confirmations.
Another 98.9% voted to keep Zcash’s Bitcoin-style halving schedule, which periodically cuts new ZEC rewards for miners.
Holders also backed delaying the reissue of fees collected through the Network Sustainability Mechanism until February 2031.
About 99.3% supported launching the NU7 upgrade as soon as possible while dropping features not ready by September 30.
The vote has set the direction for NU7, but developers must still implement and test the selected changes before activation.
