A cryptocurrency whale identified by address 0xaea…c2416 has accumulated approximately US$644,000 in unrealised losses while holding 20x leveraged short positions worth about US$48.78 million across Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC), Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) and Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH).
The positions were tracked by on-chain analyst Ai Yi, who reported that the trader maintains significant bearish exposure to three of the largest digital assets by market capitalisation.
The Bitcoin short position totals 430.63 BTC worth approximately US$27.83 million and has recorded an unrealised loss of about US$345,000 from an entry price of US$63,849.
The Solana short position consists of 181,245.04 SOL valued at approximately US$13.48 million and is showing an unrealised loss of about US$197,000, while the Ethereum short position of 4,280.35 ETH worth US$7.46 million is down approximately US$102,000.
The combined unrealised loss across the three positions has reached about US$644,000 as cryptocurrency prices moved against the trader's bearish outlook; following the development the positions remained open and had not been liquidated.
High-leverage trading allows investors to control larger positions with less capital but increases the impact of market movements on profits and losses.
Market participants are monitoring the positions closely as further price gains in Bitcoin, Solana or Ethereum could increase losses and potentially force adjustments to the trader's risk management strategy.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $64,108.61.
