  • Trump Media (NASDAQ:DJT) has mutually terminated its partnership with Crypto.com and special purpose acquisition company Yorkville Acquisition, ending the Trump Media Group CRO Strategy project that aimed to establish a publicly listed entity dedicated to acquiring and staking Cronos (CRYPTO:CRO).
  • The termination announcement cited "prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities" as the primary drivers behind the decision to end the collaboration.
  • Trump Media had accumulated US$105 million in Cronos (CRYPTO:CRO) tokens through the initial agreement, which was first announced in September 2025.

Following the termination announcement, Cronos (CRYPTO:CRO) declined by as much as 5% in immediate trading.

Both parties also dissolved a separate arrangement that would have enabled Crypto.com to manage specific exchange-traded funds through Yorkville America.

Acting CEO Kevin McGurn explained to Axios that the corporate digital asset treasury space has become oversaturated, prompting Trump Media to redirect its focus towards its core business operations.

Trump Media (NASDAQ:DJT) is now prioritising its media properties, data licensing initiatives, and the acquisition of fusion energy developer TAE Technologies, with McGurn indicating the company is targeting completion of that transaction by the end of 2026.

The Truth Predict initiative — a prediction markets platform planned for integration within Truth Social — has also been discontinued, according to reports.

Trump Media (NASDAQ:DJT) retains exposure to cryptocurrency markets through its Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) reserves, reporting 9,542 Bitcoin on its balance sheet as of the end of Q2 2026.

The company transferred 2,628 Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) valued at approximately US$165 million to wallets associated with Crypto.com during the same week as the termination announcement.

McGurn stated that market competition rather than regulatory uncertainty was the primary motivation for ending the Crypto.com partnership.

President Trump continues to face pressure from Congressional members to address potential conflicts between his family's cryptocurrency investments and the government's oversight of digital asset regulation.

At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $64,875.95.
