Trump pushes CLARITY Act as crypto shield
US President Donald Trump said the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act would help create a “future-proof digital asset market structure” and prevent future administrations from reversing crypto-friendly policies.
Trump made the remarks on Truth Social as the CLARITY Act remains under Senate consideration following its passage in the House of Representatives in July 2025.
“The law will future-proof digital asset market structure” and stop “crypto haters” from rolling back digital asset regulations,”
Trump said in the social media post.
The legislation has faced delays in the Senate due to government shutdowns, industry opposition and concerns over conflicts of interest, including scrutiny surrounding the Trump family’s involvement in crypto ventures such as World Liberty Financial, the USD1 stablecoin, memecoin projects and Bitcoin mining operations.
Republicans hold a narrow Senate majority and are expected to require Democratic support to advance the bill, while some lawmakers have said they will not back the legislation without stronger ethics provisions. Following the announcement the Bitcoin price was down from above $74,000 to below $73,000 before recovering to $73,467.
Trump’s comments echoed those of Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Paul Atkins, who previously said regulators should seek to future-proof digital asset policies against changing political priorities.
The president also weighed in on legal disputes involving prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket, backing claims that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission has exclusive jurisdiction over the platforms as they face legal challenges from several US state authorities.
At the time of reporting, World Liberty Financial price was $0.05912.
