Tether backs LemFi to expand USDT remittances
Tether has made an undisclosed investment in LemFi to expand the use of USDT-powered cross-border payments for migrant communities and international remittance users.
LemFi, formerly known as Lemonade Finance, operates across more than 30 countries and allows users in regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe to send and receive money internationally.
The investment will support broader integration of Tether across LemFi’s product suite as the company seeks to offer faster, cheaper and more efficient remittance services using stablecoin infrastructure instead of traditional banking rails.
“Our investment in LemFi reflects our shared vision on how money moves across borders, prioritising speed, cost, and transparency,”
Said Paolo Ardoino.
“By supporting LemFi’s growth and innovation roadmap, we are helping bring the benefits of a stable digital asset to more people who rely on remittances in their daily lives.”
LemFi co-founder and chief executive Ridwan Olalere described the investment as validation of the company’s vision for global financial access, adding that integrating USDT would help provide “faster, cheaper, and more reliable financial services.”
The partnership reflects a broader trend of stablecoins increasingly being used for remittances and international payments, where traditional financial systems often face high fees, slow settlement times and limited accessibility.
LemFi previously raised $33 million in a 2023 Series A funding round led by Left Lane Capital, after building a user base of more than 500,000 customers since launching in 2020.
