MicroStrategy founder Michael Saylor said the company’s Bitcoin-focused strategy has helped push its Bitcoin and cash reserves about $48 billion above its total debt.
Saylor reflected on the company’s position in October 2022, when Bitcoin was trading near $20,000 and MicroStrategy held around 130,000 BTC.
At the time, the company’s Bitcoin holdings were valued at about $26 billion, while its split-adjusted MSTR shares traded near $24.
Market conditions worsened weeks later as Bitcoin fell below $16,000, putting pressure on the company’s balance sheet.
The decline briefly left Strategy’s total debt higher than its combined Bitcoin and cash reserves, creating an estimated shortfall of about $3 billion.
MSTR shares also weakened sharply during the downturn and ended that year trading near $13.
Saylor said the company stayed committed to its long-term plan despite the volatility across the digital asset market.
Strategy continued to focus on strengthening its financial position while maintaining its central approach of accumulating Bitcoin.
The company has since raised more than $60 billion to support additional Bitcoin purchases.
Saylor said every dollar raised during that period went towards expanding the company’s Bitcoin holdings.
The firm has added more than 716,000 BTC since then, significantly increasing its exposure to the cryptocurrency.
Strategy’s current Bitcoin and cash reserves now stand roughly $48 billion above its total debt, according to Saylor.
The update highlights the scale of the company’s shift since the market stress seen in late 2022.
Saylor framed the turnaround as a result of discipline, conviction, and continued execution through difficult market conditions.
He also thanked shareholders and supporters who remained committed to the company’s strategy during periods of heavy market pressure.
The comments underline Strategy’s continuing role as one of the most closely watched corporate holders of Bitcoin.
Investors are likely to keep monitoring Bitcoin prices, debt levels, fundraising activity, and MSTR’s market performance as key measures of the strategy’s durability.
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin price was $63,710.57.
